Why mediation?
Mediation can save a lot of hassle, emotional pain and money. Especially in Portugal, it seems essential to try mediation first, as starting a lawsuit and resolving it can take up to 10 years! Lodging an appeal is often no longer an option. Meanwhile, lawyers are fighting among themselves over the heads of the parties involved who spend huge amounts of money on this process. The reason why the lawsuit was initiated in the first place is slowly losing its strength and often the parties feel less and less heard because of the battle that has arisen between the lawyers.
divorce and separation
There are several reasons voor couples to split up. The marriage can run out of steam, infidelity can be the cause, money problems and sometimes even other family issues or problems with the children lead to a break up. When partners cannot get to an agreement about their separation it is always a good idea to consider mediation first. The costs are a fraction of costs for lawyers and with mediation the emotional aspect stays alive as there is only one and the same person, the mediator, talking to both parties. Most people want to avoid a confrontational divorce at all times and together with a mediator there is a much bigger chance to accomplice this. The mediator helps both parties to stay close to the case and remember that once both parties loved one and another. Out of respect for each other the separation will be dealt with in a kind an respectful manner so that whatever the outcome, both parties can move forward.
business disputes
When you start a company together with a friend, a family member or an acquaintance the sky seems to be the limit. The adrenaline flows more than ever and sometimes you feel closer to your business partner than to your spouse. You understand each other as no other, have the same goals and are living in the same energetic vibration. Until things are going too quickly too good and business is booming. Views and ideas for the near future are changing and not the same for both partners anymore. Personal profits and awards need to go up according to one partner or even be divided differently. Money is spent unevenly and needs need to be adjusted but it is too late. The separation of parties that has been lurking for some time is getting closer and closer.
It can also be the opposite and slowly the company is in getting into trouble. Making less money, there are more and more debts, the company or one of the partners is taking to much risks or spending to much money. Who is to blame? How do you keep your private life out of this?
DEATH AND loss
In the event of a bereavement, in addition to grief and loss, there is also sometimes disagreement among the family members and close relatives. They might disagree about how the funeral should be arranged and who is responsible. Despite the wishes of the deceased, there are often disturbances and quarrels about the inheritance even before the funeral. Talk to a mediator and provide a beautiful memory of a loved one instead of a family quarrel that can no longer be glued. That’s why talking about death before it happens is so important!
